Professor
Dr. Jennifer Mills is one of the founding members of Great Northern University.
Her love of learning has been demonstrated in: the multiple majors she earned from Spring Arbor University, where she loved all her classes and wanted to take more of everything; her experience teaching overseas at universities in Nicaragua and Thailand, and Christian high schools in Singapore and Indonesia; and her commitment to always continue studying and learning as she continues to take classes from her fellow faculty. She was an assistant dean at the former Spokane campus of Moody Bible Institute, where she served on the Faculty Development Committee, the MBI accreditation team, the Academic Standards Committee, a fellow in the honors college, and supervised the Student Success Center. She has also been project leader for various educational initiatives with a national education corporation.
Dr. Mills earned her Ph.D from Baylor University, where she received Graduate Student Instructor of the Year while finishing her Ph.D, and now her research is focused on attributes that lead to increased adaptive cognition in under-performing students. She has given presentations at national conferences on subjects including evidence-based methods for improved long-term knowledge retention and innovative assessment methods. She counsels undergraduate students to help them pursue unique opportunities after graduation, and has given guidance on how to maximize the strengths of individual learning styles.
Dr. Mills was raised on the Olympic Peninsula, on the other side of the state of WA, and loves the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. She has lived in Spokane for ten years, long enough for it to feel like home. She is delighted to be a part of Great Northern University to help equip committed Christians to Engage Their World.
